This small (1.5 in.) crab has recently invaded intertidal New England!  In 1988 this crab was first noticed in New Jersey but now it ranges from the Chesapeake Bay to Cape Cod, Massachsetts. This invader species is native to the western North Pacific but entered the western Atlantic when a ship dumped its' Pacific ballast water.
