This small grayish-brown, furred mammal is known by its black mask and thick, banded tail. All you'll see during the day, however, are the tracks the racoon leaves in the mud when it comes into the marsh at night to feed. Racoons swim well and can run up to 15 mph. They feed in both upland and aquatic habitats on plants and animals.
