Sandbar Shark (Carcharhinus plumbeus) The sandbar shark is a large coastal shark commonly found along the East Coast. They are gray or brown on top, with white undersides and can reach lengths of up to 8' (2.5 m). They are distinguished by their long and narrow pectoral fins. They mainly stay near the bottom where they feed on fish, invertebrates, and other sharks. Sandbars may be present in Narragansett Bay in the summer months and will often school with other sandbars of the same size and sex. |
