Red Seaweed
(Grateloupia doryphora)

This large red algae with a leaf-like body plan is relatively new to Narragansett Bay, appearing in the lower portions of the Bay in 1996. The slippery blades can take on a variety of shapes, and color can vary as well. This introduced species is now commonly found in many parts of the world.
