Lady Crab
(Ovalipes ocellatus)
Lady crabs are found on sandy bottoms in shallow water. Their shells have small rounded spots of purple or gray on a beige background. The last pair of legs are modified into paddles to aid in swimming. Lady crabs are scavengers and will eat live or dead fish, crabs or clams. Lady crabs grow to 4" (10 cm) wide.
