Channeled Whelk (Busycotypus canaliculatum) These large (8") whelks live in shallow water on a sandy bottom. They are aggressive predators, especially of clams, and even scavenge bait out of crab and lobster pots. These animals have a distinctive egg case that is often found washed up on beaches. |
