Ninigret Salt Pond

Wetlands

This map shows the types of wetlands found in Ninigret Salt Pond  and in the surrounding area. Most of the wetlands in the pond are estuarine emergent (in yellow) which means that they are salt marsh type of wetlands. The salt marshes in Ninigret Pond are primarily fringing marshes, growing around the perimeter of the pond. In the area of the pond where a delta has formed at the mouth of the breachway, a more extensive marsh system has developed.
