Circulation
Circulation is the movement of water in the Bay. The water in estuaries, including Narragansett Bay, is constantly moving around. Movement of the water may be due to many different factors. Where the water is going (and coming from), how fast the water is moving and where it is going are all basic questions that can help us understand Narragansett Bay. If a pollutant enters the Bay at one point, it can move all over the Bay with the water. To determine and predict the health of the Bay, scientists keep track of how the water moves.
