You know, the sand here on this beach is much different from our field trip to East Beach, just on the other side of the dunes. This sand is coarse and darker than the sand on the barrier beach. This beach is also very narrow (maybe four feet wide) and backs up to thick vegetation. How can people lie down here?
Time to get going. We have another area of the salt pond to visit. The quicker we get all of our stuff on the bus and get going, the more time we will have in the water using our seine net and looking at critters. Boy, this bus is really hot. Be careful not to burn your legs on the hot, plastic seats.
Can you believe how big this salt pond is? We've been on the road for at least 20 minutes just to get to the other side. This side definitely gets more tourists. Look at all the beach houses down here, and it is so crowded. Hey, did we just pass an ice cream shop? Think they'll let us stop there on the way home?
