Look, there are tons of birds here too. Get out the field guide. Let's find out who we see? Seagulls, terns, the one red-winged blackbird that attacked me, and a few snowy egrets. This place must be like a seafood buffet for them. There are certainly less people in the water here to disturb them. Maybe that is why we didn't see half as many birds on the other side of the salt pond.
Let's walk in the water. Yikes! It's cold. I thought it would be as warm as the other side. I wonder why it isn't. Maybe it has to do with the breachway letting in the ocean water in. Whoa! With all the talking I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking. Watch your step. It is really slippery. All the algae growing on the bottom makes it really slick. Are you able to dig your toes into the bottom? I can't. It's a strange feeling. It's hard like packed soil, but it sort of gives when you step on it. Do you still want to walk in the water? I guess we have no choice. We're going around the corner here to find a small isolated area to seine in.
