The first place we visit is the Beavertail Lighthouse Museum. This is the site of America's third oldest lighthouse. The first lighthouse was built in 1749, but was burned down by soldiers during the Revolutionary War. The building we are visiting today was built in 1898. Inside the museum there are old photographs and paintings of all different lighthouses in Rhode Island, some stuffed fish, and a glass Fresnel lens that was used to light the lighthouse.
