Many different types of rocks grace Beavertail. Many of the darker rocks were formed layer by layer, and have been folded and faulted over time.
Geologists, people who study rocks and minerals, call these rocks phyllite. There are little spots of rust in some of the rocks. These are actually little specks of pyrite, or "fool's gold"
