Beavertail ~ Rocky Shore |
Virtual Field Trip |
The first activity of the day was a Rock Walk with a Park Ranger named Bob, so we headed toward the lighthouse where he has an office. Ranger Bob said that we can tell a lot about an area just by studying the rocks and minerals there; some of the formations in the rocky cliffs were formed over 500 million years ago during the Cambrian Period of the Paleozoic Era. The rocks at Beavertail document a very interesting story of oceans, continental collisions, volcanism, and erosion.
