set date for trip
look at a tide chart and see what time the tide is low- that's the time when we'll want to be out on the marsh
arrange for a Department of Environmental Management representative to come with us
ask a marine biologist from University of Rhode Island's Graduate School of Oceanography to accompany group
discuss details and purpose of field trip
get permission from school and parents to go on trip
decide what equipment we'll need
arrange for a bus
study salt marsh ecosystem and its biota
review activities to be conducted on the field trip
gather equipment and supplies
borrow first aid kit from school nurseDay Before:
pack equipment
remind everyone to wear long pants and long sleeved shirts and bring their rubber bootsField Trip Day:
pack equipment on bus
put on bug spray and sunscreen
