Who is that trying to get our attention further down the marsh? It is one of our team members waving their arms. It seems they have found something to show us. What are they so excited about?
What is this green, rubbery-like plant that was floating in the shallow water? Quickly, someone check our field guide and see what it is. Sea lettuce, you say?
Who hasthe other book on salt marshes? Wow, they both say that the scientific name, Ulva lactuca, is typically found on peat banks of the low marsh or in marsh creeks. There is no doubt that this is where we are.

We are ready to start digging with the pitch fork and shovels we have carried. Let's go to it! I spy a creature I have never seen before. Look at it! It has plenty of legs, doesn't it? Does it tickle your hand as it crawls across it? This is a clam worm.
