The day has gone so quickly, but it is time to leave. As we load the equipment and say goodbye to Brian and Kenny, we might wonder how many people are aware of this place and the efforts of so many people to save it.

The Galilee Escape Road leads us further down to the small port of Galilee, Rhode Island and suddenly we find ourselves in the midst of a busy, New England, fishing village. It is spilling over with tourists, shell fishermen, local residents, and beachcombers. Buses are loading and unloading people for the 75 minute ferry ride to Block Island which lies 12 miles further south.

The air is teeming with the scent of fish, shells, salt, and wet, sandy beaches.

We are all quietly inside our own thoughts about this very full day. Although it is sad to leave, we really know that it will be exciting to check back on a future day to see how much the salt marshes have developed and grown. We will look ahead to the success of the Galilee Salt Marsh Restoration Project.
