Hey, look down at your feet. What do you see in the small pools of water? Did you pick up the small, spiral-shaped shell? Is it empty or do you see a very tiny animal poking its head out? Is it "winking" at you? This is a periwinkle.
We are walking a few more steps and find several tiny, fragile-looking creatures with a long, pointed tail. They look as if they are wearing armor. What could these little salt marsh soldiers be? Someone get out the seashore guide book. Look, here it is on this page. It's a horseshoe crab.
Someone in our group has picked up something that is wiggling in their hands. It looks like some kind of worm. It is- it's a clam worm.
This place is sure full of interesting and fun creatures.
